Origin: Believed to have migrated to Odisha from the Bastar region, the Bhottada, like the Muria are considered to be a sub-division of the Gond tribe.Believed to have migrated to Odisha from the Bastar region, the Bhottada, like the Muria are considered to be a sub-division of the Gond tribe.

Culture and Crafts: The Bhottara are skilled in the making of paddy craft figurines. Unhusked paddy is painstakingly tied together will colorful thread to form chains, which are the bent and molded to give form to figurines of deities and animals.

Occupation: Skilled agriculturalists engaged in wet cultivation, the Bhottada grow paddy, sugarcane, pulses and tobacco.
